Getting Started
(7 questions) Do I need any training to use SnapStat?
No training required. SnapStat is designed to be intuitive enough that you can track your first game successfully within minutes. The app guides you through each step and learns your team automatically.
How long does it take to set up SnapStat for my team?
Under 5 minutes. Unlike other apps that require hours of roster configuration, SnapStat learns your players automatically as you track plays. Just enter basic team info and start tracking.
Do I need to enter my entire roster before tracking?
No! SnapStat discovers players automatically from gameplay. It sees who throws (QB), who catches (WR), who runs (RB), etc. You can optionally add jersey numbers for faster selection, but it's not required.
What devices does SnapStat work on?
SnapStat is available for iOS (iPhone and iPad). Android support is planned for future release. The app works best on devices with iOS 15 or later.
Can multiple people track the same game?
Currently, SnapStat is designed for single-user tracking per game to maintain data accuracy. Multi-user collaborative tracking is on our roadmap for future releases.
Is there a free trial?
Yes! You can track your first game completely free with no credit card required. This lets you experience the full app before committing to a subscription.
How do I download SnapStat?
SnapStat will be available on the iOS App Store. Join our waitlist at snapstat.ai to be notified when we launch and receive exclusive early access.

Offline & Data
(8 questions) Does SnapStat work without internet?
Yes! SnapStat is built offline-first using PowerSync technology. You can track entire games without any WiFi or cellular connection. Data syncs automatically when you reconnect.
What happens if stadium WiFi fails?
Nothing changes. SnapStat stores everything locally on your device, so unreliable stadium WiFi (which affects 73% of high school venues) doesn't affect your tracking at all.
Will I lose data if my phone dies?
No. SnapStat continuously saves data locally. When you charge your phone and reopen the app, all your data is exactly where you left it. We also sync to the cloud when connected.
How do I recover data if I lose my phone?
Sign in to SnapStat on any iOS device with your account. All synced data automatically appears. Games tracked offline will sync once that device reconnects.
Does SnapStat auto-save?
Yes, SnapStat saves every play immediately as you enter it. There's no 'save' button to forget. Your data is protected even if the app closes unexpectedly.
Can I access my data on multiple devices?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on multiple devices and your data syncs automatically. Track on your phone at the game, review on your iPad at home.
How long is my data stored?
Your data is stored for the lifetime of your subscription plus 90 days. We recommend exporting season summaries for long-term archival.
Can I backup my data?
Yes. SnapStat offers CSV export for all your data. You can also generate PDF reports for permanent records that don't require the app to view.

Tracking Plays
(10 questions) How do I record a play?
Simply tap the play type (run, pass, etc.), select the player involved, and the result (gain, touchdown, etc.). SnapStat's one-tap interface makes it faster than any other app.
How do I undo a mistake?
Swipe left on any play to delete it, or tap 'History' to view and edit all plays. You can modify any detail of any play at any time, even after the game.
How do I track penalties?
SnapStat handles penalties intelligently. Select the penalty type from the quick menu - the app automatically knows the yardage and whether it's a replay down. No memorizing penalty rules.
Do I need to enter the game clock?
No! SnapStat uses smart clock inference to estimate timing based on play patterns. Other apps require you to enter the clock 120+ times per game - SnapStat eliminates this tedious task.
How do I track defensive plays?
Tap the defensive play type (tackle, sack, interception, etc.) and select the player. SnapStat automatically credits the correct stats like tackles for loss, pass breakups, and forced fumbles.
How do I handle special teams plays?
SnapStat has dedicated screens for kickoffs, punts, field goals, and PATs. Track return yards, punt distance, and kicker accuracy with the same simple interface.
What if I miss a play?
Tap the '+' button to add a play at any point in the game history. You can insert plays exactly where they belong, even if you're catching up.
How do I track plays for both teams?
Toggle between tracking your team's offense and defense. Most users focus on their own team, but you can optionally track opponent stats as well.
What stats does SnapStat track?
SnapStat tracks all standard football statistics: rushing (carries, yards, TDs), passing (attempts, completions, yards, TDs, INTs), receiving, defense (tackles, sacks, INTs), and special teams.
Can I track JV and Varsity games?
Yes! Create separate teams for JV and Varsity within the same account. Each team maintains its own roster, games, and statistics.

AI & Smart Features
(7 questions) How does SnapStat predict plays?
SnapStat learns your team's play tendencies over time. By game 5, it predicts your team's next play with 90% accuracy, pre-filling likely players and play types for faster entry.
What does 'learns your team' mean?
SnapStat observes patterns in your gameplay: which players typically get the ball in certain situations, preferred formations, red zone tendencies. It uses this to anticipate and speed up tracking.
How accurate is the play prediction?
The app learns your team's patterns and improves predictions with each game. By game 5, it accurately predicts the likely ball carrier or receiver most of the time for teams with consistent play-calling.
Does SnapStat auto-detect player positions?
Yes. The app learns positions from actions: the player who throws passes becomes the QB, players who receive become WRs, etc. You never need to configure positions manually.
Can I turn off smart features?
Yes. While we recommend using AI assistance, you can disable predictions and enter every play manually if you prefer traditional tracking.
Does SnapStat learn different opponents?
Currently, SnapStat focuses on learning your team's patterns. Opponent analysis features are planned for future releases.
How does smart clock work?
SnapStat estimates game clock based on play patterns, possession changes, and quarter breaks. It's accurate enough for statistical purposes without manual entry.
👥
Rosters & Players
(7 questions) How do I add players to my roster?
Players are added automatically as you track plays, or you can manually add them in the Roster section. Enter jersey number and name - that's all that's required.
Can I import a roster from another app?
Yes! SnapStat can import rosters from CSV files. Export from your current app or spreadsheet and import directly into SnapStat.
How do I handle player number changes?
Edit the player in your roster to update their jersey number. Historical stats remain associated with the player regardless of number changes.
Can I track multiple teams?
Yes! One subscription covers unlimited teams. Track Varsity, JV, Freshman, or even multiple schools if you're a multi-team statistician.
How do I handle players with the same number?
SnapStat differentiates players by name, not just number. You can have multiple players with the same jersey number (common for JV/Varsity splits).
Can I add coaches to my team?
The roster is designed for players only. Coach information can be added to team settings for reports and sharing purposes.
How do I manage seniors who graduated?
Archive players instead of deleting them. Archived players retain their historical stats but don't appear in active rosters.

Troubleshooting
(7 questions) The app crashed during a game. Is my data lost?
No! SnapStat saves every play immediately. Reopen the app and your game will be exactly where you left it. Our offline-first design prevents data loss.
My stats aren't syncing to the cloud.
Check your internet connection and make sure you're signed in. Go to Settings > Sync to manually trigger a sync. Data will catch up once connected.
I entered a play incorrectly. How do I fix it?
Tap History to view all plays. Find the incorrect play and tap to edit, or swipe left to delete. You can modify any play at any time.
The app is running slow.
Try closing other apps to free up memory. If tracking a game with many plays, this is normal as the play list grows. Performance improves on newer devices.
I can't log in to my account.
Use the 'Forgot Password' link to reset your password. If issues persist, contact support@snapstat.ai with your account email.
My export file won't upload to MaxPreps.
Verify you're using the MaxPreps-specific export format. MaxPreps has specific column requirements - SnapStat's MaxPreps export is designed to match exactly.
Player Portal link isn't working.
Check that you're connected to the internet when generating the link. Try generating a new link if the old one expired.
⚖️
vs. Other Apps
(7 questions) How is SnapStat different from Hudl?
Hudl is designed for professional and college programs with video analysis. SnapStat focuses on stat tracking for high school volunteers. We're 70% cheaper and require zero training.
How is SnapStat different from GameChanger?
GameChanger was designed for baseball and added football as an afterthought. SnapStat is built specifically for football from the ground up, with football-specific features and terminology.
How is SnapStat different from MaxPreps?
MaxPreps is primarily a stats publishing platform. SnapStat is a stat tracking app that exports to MaxPreps. Use SnapStat to track, then publish to MaxPreps.
Should I switch from paper stat sheets?
Yes! Paper sheets require manual data entry after games (20+ hours/season), are prone to errors, can be lost or damaged, and don't allow real-time sharing with parents.
I already use spreadsheets. Why switch?
SnapStat eliminates post-game data entry, works offline reliably, generates professional reports, shares live with parents, and prevents common formula errors.
Can I use SnapStat AND MaxPreps?
Absolutely! Most users track with SnapStat during games, then export to MaxPreps to publish stats online. This combination gives you the best of both worlds.
What if my coach wants Hudl film?
SnapStat focuses on statistics only. Continue using Hudl for video if your program has it. Our stats export can complement their film analysis.
